If you are beginning in the preparation of the Baptism of your child, these guidelines can help you know how to become closer to Christ and the Church.

Baptism, the first of seven Sacraments, marks the beginning of our life in Christ, which is completed with the Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. This is a complete transformation of ourselves as faithful followers of Jesus, the Son of God. Baptism leaves a permanent mark on the soul. It is a commitment to grow and achieve spiritual maturity. With this, God removes all sin: original sin and any other sin. It makes us children of God, members of the Church, and heirs to the kingdom of heaven.

When Baptizing an infant, it is believed that the parents will make sure the child will grow with the Catholic faith. The practice of the Church to Baptize children as infants is to allow them to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time at about the age of seven and to allow them to be Confirmed between the ages of fourteen and seventeen.
